StreamToMe is an app that, just like ZumoCast, will stream all of your media to you wherever you are. The app will stream most kind of movies, music, or photo files to your iDevice, from a computer. It works over Wi-Fi or 3G. The app can be used as an iPod replacement because it does stream audio in the background.
The app supports: MP4, AVI, MOV, FLV, MPG, MKV, MWV, MP3, AAC, FLAC, ALAC, M4A, JPG, TIFF, PNG, GIF, and many more. The app does not yet support RAW photos.
StreamToMe requires a little bit of DNS knowledge to use over 3G. A port must be setup to forward through, to enable 3G streaming. For those that do not want to mess with the network settings, ZumoCast is a free option with the same functionality.
The app requires that your Mac or Windows machine run a server called “ServeToMe.” The server is free. Most apps like this, including ZumoCast and AirVideo, require that your Mac or Windows computer act as a server to your iOS devices.
The app is available today for $2.99 in the App Store. We would love to hear if you are a fan of StreamToMe. Let us know in the comments below!
