Thanksgiving Arrives Early For Some Slingbox Owners

Slingbox users have another reason to give thanks this holiday season. Sling Media released its new app, SlingPlayer Mobile for iPad. The $29.99 app allows users to watch and control their home TV and DVR on their iPad. Using a 3G or Wi-Fi connection and a Slingbox SOLO or PRO-HD, users can play anything they see on their home TV on the iPad.

According to a Sling Media press release:

"A Slingbox is the perfect accessory to an iPad," said John M. Paul, executive vice president of products at Sling Media. "When combined with the new SlingPlayer Mobile app, now anyone with an iPad can enjoy a beautiful, personalized TV experience anywhere in the world."

You can view and control video sources including:

• Cable set-top box and DVR
• Satellite set-top box and DVR
• Telco / IPTV set-top box and DVR
• Basic Cable
• Digital Over-the-Air broadcasts (Slingbox Pro-HD only)
• Tivo
• Apple TV
• Home security cameras

In addition to its steep price tag, Slingbox users should know the app will not work with the: Slingbox PRO, AV, Tuner or Classic. SlingPlayer Mobile for iPad is available today in the App Store.
