Carcassonne's Long-Awaited iPad Update Set To Arrive This Month

December 1, 2010
When The Coding Monkeys first released their amazing digital recreation of the popular tile-based board game, Carcassonne, for iPhone and iPod touch, they promised to bring iPad support to it in the not too distant future via a free update.  Well, that future is rapidly approaching, as the team has announced on their blog that Carcassonne will finally be gaining iPad support sometime this month. From the Carcassonne blog:
"Good news everyone! After being busy working out details, new designs and user interfaces, we are ready to commit to a release of the iPad update in December! So in a short while you’ll be able to enjoy Carcassonne on the big screen and we will start working on expansions and adding GameCenter support."
Game Center support will eventually arrive as another free update, but the same can't be said for the expansion packs -- whichever ones it is that they decide to go ahead with.  Those will be available via in-app purchase for a yet-to-be-determined amount. It's also assumed that Carcassonne's current price of $4.99 will still be raised to $9.99 when the universal update hits the App Store, so if you are interested in playing Carcassonne on your iPad, you may want to download it as soon as possible to save some dough.  There really isn't a lot to lose by doing so either, as Carcassonne has never been on sale since its launch in June. Below is a gallery of brand new screenshots for the iPad version of Carcassonne, along with two sets of just-released wallpapers.  One set is for iPad and the other for iPhone.  If you would like to download them from your iDevice, just tap on one to enlarge it, and then tap and hold to save to your library.
