Fruit Ninja HD Update Adds Game Center Support And Online Multiplayer
December 2, 2010
Now that iOS 4.2.1 is out, game developers are finally able to provide iPad gamers with all of what Apple's Game Center has to offer. One of those developers finally taking advantage of this social service is Halfbrick Studios, whose best-selling fruit slicing game, Fruit Ninja HD, has now leaped ahead of its smaller sibling in terms of features thanks to its newly acquired Game Center support.
Fruit Ninja HD now features full Game Center support, meaning you can view how you compare with other fruit slicers via online leaderboards and achievements, and take your skills online in head-to-head battles.
To access the new mode, simply slice through "Multiplayer" on the main menu. This will display the previously available "Classic Attack" and "Zen Duel" same-device multiplayer modes, along with the new "Online" mode. Choosing the new mode will bring up a Game Center menu that will allow you to play against a random opponent or invite a friend.
However, you will only be able to invite Fruit Ninja HD friends. If you attempt to invite someone playing Fruit Ninja on an iPhone, they will be asked to download the HD version or simply have to decline the request. We can only assume Halfbrick took this route to avoid giving either side an advantage over the other.
Fruit Ninja HD for iPad with Game Center support is available in the App Store for $4.99. Now go start slicing fruit with your friends.
