The Incident Can Now Be Played On An Even Bigger Screen Thanks To TV-Out Support

December 2, 2010
If you thought playing The Incident on your iPad while using your iPhone as a controller was cool, wait until you try playing it on that giant LCD TV screen in your living room, which is now possible thanks to the most recent update. The Incident v1.3 features TV-out support, which means you can use that 30-pin to composite or component cable you purchased to watch Netflix streaming movies for gaming on the big screen instead. It really only made sense for Big Bucket Software to take The Incident's technological capabilities one step further since it already supported using your iPhone or iPod touch as a remote control for your iPad.  Now all you have to do is pair up your devices as you have done many times before and plug in your 30-pin to composite or component cable.  The game will instantly be pushed to your TV, allowing you to play from the comfort of your couch. It's just that simple. During my limited time testing the game on my 46" LCD TV, I only ran into a single, minute problem.  When connecting the iPad to my TV, it would at times display a bit of visual noise at the bottom of the screen in the black bar.  It didn't take away from the gameplay, but it was distracting.  I found that closing out of the game and killing the active state in the multitasking bar before relaunching would either diminish or completely remove it.  But don't let this quirk stop you from giving it a try, because 8-bit gaming really doesn't get any better than this. The Incident is available for $1.99.  It's a universal app, so you won't have to purchase multiple copies to try it out on your TV, as long as you have the proper hardware. Embedded below is a video demonstrating the new TV-out support in action.  The video quality is a bit lackluster and lacks audio since I had to use my old digital camera to record it, as my iPhone was currently being used to control the game, but you get the idea.

If this type of setup interests you, I recommend checking out Chopper 2 as well.  It works the exact same way, except you get to fly helicopter instead of avoiding falling objects.
