Today's AGF list is a bit special. The entire first half is dedicated to free games featured in the third annual New Year's App Blowout, while the second sports the usual collection of free apps and games.

New Year's App Blowout
iPhone:
Twilight Golf ($1.99 -> Free): A golf game with puzzling courses. Touch and drag your finger across the screen to change the ball's trajectory and release to launch it over, around, and through a wide variety of obstacles. The game features advanced lighting and physics, 30 levels, and Facebook integration.
Twilight Golf is available for free for a limited time. It has a three-and-a-half-star rating and a total of five ratings.
Crayon Ball ($2.99 -> Free): Tilt and tap the colorful crayon balls in order to match four or more of the same color. Tapping single balls will fill up your meter, which is definitely not a good thing, but it needs to be done to create matches. Matches will decrease the meter, however. You can also tilt your device to move the balls a bit to your advantage. The game features multiple themes, special power-up balls, and realistic physics.
Crayon Ball is available for free for a limited time. It has a three-and-a-half-star rating and a total of 195 ratings.
Pinch n Pop! ($1.99 -> Free): Another matching game, only in this one you will be pushing, flicking, and pinching like-Squirms together in order to keep their population under control. The game features three difficulty modes, power-ups, and online leaderboards.

Pollywog ($1.99 -> Free): Tilt your device from side-to-side in order to get Pauly the Purple Pollywog to the finish line as fast as possible. You can eat yum yums to speed up and collect power-ups, but you must avoid obstacles at all costs, otherwise you will slow down immensely. The game features nine levels, an original soundtrack, and awards based on time.
Pollywog is available for free for a limited time. It has a three-star rating and a total of 273 ratings.
Shelly the Shell Master ($.99 -> Free): Shelly shuffles shells with balls under them, and you must keep track of each one because Shelly will ask you where a random ball is at the end of the shuffle. The game features three modes, Retina graphics, and OpenFeint integration.
Shelly the Shell Master is available for free for a limited time. It doesn't currently have an average rating, but it's part of the New Year's App Blowout, so it absolutely belongs here.
Super Fly ($.99 -> Free): You are Super Fly, and you must try to stay alive for as long as possible by beating down your enemies with every weapon available to you. Collect the coins that fall in order to upgrade your weapons. The game features multiple environments and OpenFeint integration.
Super Fly is available for free for a limited time. It has a three-and-a-half-star rating and a total of 1,346 ratings.
Universal:
Rollatron ($.99 -> Free): Roll around the wide variety of 3D mazes by tilting to steer and tapping to jump. Collect all of the diamonds in each level to move on. The game also features stereoscopic 3D as long as you use red/cyan glasses.

:Shift: ($.99 -> Free): A very unique platform game where you must shift the environment to reach the end of each level. The game features on-screen controls, tons of different and challenging levels, and an original soundtrack.

ARruler ($.99 -> Free): An augmented reality ruler that allows you to measure the size, distance, and angle of various objects. You must first calibrate the app by placing a credit card in its view and aligning the ruler. Then just have at it. The app features a variety of measurement units and the ability to share images via Facebook.

World Series of Poker Hold’em Legend ($.99 -> Free): Compete in career mode, play a cash game, take your skills online, or go head-to-head against a friend locally in a game of Texas hold ‘em. You can play for fun or play for virtual cash, but if you run out of chips and want to play again immediately, you will have to fork over real money. It features Game Center integration as well.
World Series of Poker Hold’em Legend is available for free today only (12/31). It has a four-and-a-half-star rating and a total of 436 ratings.
Tap&Share ($1.99 -> Free): A rhythm game where you can play any music from your library. The game features a doodle-style paper art, downloadable music, and OpenFeint integration.

FireCraft ($.99 -> Free): Create your own unique fireworks display by filling rockets with 10 different styles of bullets, each of which come in 10 different colors. You can launch your rockets in six different locations, and save images of your show.

PipeRoll Winter HD ($.99 -> Free): A pipes-style game where you must rotate different pieces in order to plug them. The game features three different types of fluid and 30 challenging levels.

If you are a developer who would like to get your app included in our “Apps Gone Free” daily lists, here’s our basic set of rules:
- The app must be free for at least one whole day.
- It must have at least a three-star average rating at the time it goes free.
- The app must not have been free numerous times (3+) over the last six months.
