Lifelike Apps Set To Release Newest App.
The art of postcard writing is almost as out of date as letter writing itself. However, the folks at
Lifelike Apps hope to breathe new life into the concept.
Lifelike Cards is a new iPad app coming soon to the App Store. Created by the innovative team behind the Lifelike Alarm clock apps for both the
iPhone/iPod touch and
iPad, this app is equally as impressive.
Upon entering the app, users will be astonished by an authentic looking postcard rack. It even turns when you swipe your fingers in either direction (along with a squeaking sound). Each side of the rack includes up to 20 photos taken from the
Flickr photo-sharing site.
By default, the most popular photos from the site are showcased.
But what makes the app truly special is that users can find photos that suit their tastes, by place or theme.
For example, if you are looking for photos from Australia or those about Hanukkah, they are easily found. Photos using your selection criteria are then beautifully arranged on the postcard rack.
Clicking on a postcard enlarges it. A second click allows you to send it to someone as a postcard, as an email attachment, or you can save it to the iPad’s Photo app for later use. You can also make the postcard one of your favorites by clicking on the star icon.
Sending the photo by postcard is the best choice, and one of the app’s biggest strengths. Here, you can add your name, message, and recipient's email. Each is converted into a fancy handwriting style. Each recipient’s email is pulled directly from your iPad’s contact list, or you can type it in manually.
It even includes a virtual stamp, which adds to the postcard’s look of authenticity. This stamp is “canceled” in the recipient’s email, which is a nice touch.
Once released, the Lifelike Cards app will be priced at $1.99 in the App Store.
