Converter Touch ~ Drag-and-Drop Unit Converter by HandyPadSoft icon

Converter Touch ~ Drag-and-Drop Unit Converter ($0.99) by HandyPadSoft is a simple and intuitive conversion app for your iPhone.

Conversions are something that is always good to have on-hand somewhere, because you never know when you may need to convert units of measurement into something else. The most common conversion is probably money, and I'm sure you've had to encounter that at some point. Converter Touch makes conversions fast and simple, wrapped up in an excellent looking package that is great to look at too.

Converter Touch opens with the main screen where all your conversions take place. This screen will have the top filled by the units you are converting, then a scrolling menu bar that contains plenty of different measurement options to choose from, including your own conversion History and Favorite conversions.

Not sure if Converter Touch has the right unit you're looking for? The app contains the following units of measurement: Angle, Area, Currency, Data, Energy, Force, Fuel, Length, Power, Pressure, Speed, Temperature, Time, Torque, Typography, Volume, and Weight. With the wide variety that Converter Touch has, most of your basic needs will and should be covered.

When you select a unit, underneath it will be the various types of unit sizes in that category. These appear as tiles, and the best part is you can simply drag-n-drop each tile into the top display to do your conversions. It's pretty intuitive and takes full advantage of the touch screen capabilities of the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Now if you're going to convert something, you need to have an amount, right? Tap on the top display and up pops a built-in calculator. No need for any separate calculator apps to calculate the amount you need first, Converter Touch has you covered! It's a nice touch, and well implemented.

Tapping on the top conversion display will hide the calculator and bring you back to the conversion units and types. At the bottom is a gear icon that will take you to the app's Settings, which include options to toggle the sound and automatic [calculator] keyboard. It's noted that the Automatic Keyboard setting will have the keyboard automatically popup when you drag and drop a unit to another. I found that the Settings menu looks eerily like the settings menu in all of the Tapbots apps. Perhaps this is inspiration?

The Favorites can be accessed from this Settings menu as well as from the main screen. If you need any Help or want to find More Apps from HandyPadSoft, these options are found underneath the other settings. Keep in mind that the More Apps link will kick you out of the app and take you to the App Store.

I found Converter Touch to be quite a pleasure to use. It's beautiful, slick, and intuitive. It also has all the conversions you could possibly ever need or want. If your'e still in the market for a good converter app, then give Converter Touch a try. After all, it costs less than your daily cup of coffee.
