Sneak Peak: Lifelike Craig App For The iPad

December 10, 2010
Craigslist has pretty much killed newspaper classified advertising. Now, a new app is taking Craigslist ads to a whole new level. The upcoming Lifelike Craig for the iPad app turns Craigslist into one big classified ad. The end result is pretty neat. Created by Lifelike Apps, the app automatically finds listings in your local area, according to category. These include Housing, For Sale, and Jobs among others. Listings are sorted by date and each includes the price and photo (if available) for each item.

Once you drill down to a listing you find interesting, the ad looks very much like what you'd see on the Craigslist site itself. In some cases, the ad looks cheesy. But, that says more about Craigslist; it isn't a flaw with the app.

A nice touch is the ability to see where the item is located. This is accomplished through a Google Maps interface.

The Lifelike Craig app should be released before the end of the year.
