UnityRemote Turns Your iPhone Into Universal Remote Control

UnityRemote Turns Your iPhone Into Universal Remote Control

December 29, 2010
Willing to spend $99 to make your iPhone/iPod touch a universal remote? Now you can, thanks to the new UnityRemote from Gear4. Operated in concert with the free UnityRemote app, the hardware supports all devices that use IR remotes. Users can create “actions” to control multiple devices simultaneously. The UnityRemote measures 51mm x 64mm. It would look great on any coffee table. It kind of reminds me of a watchcase.

Features include:
  • Gestures - Use swipe gestures to control volume and channels.
  • No dongle required. No need to plug anything into your iPhone, simply walk into the room and use.
  • UnityRemote receives commands from your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad and sends the remote control signals to your home entertainment centre.
  • UnityRemote helps you set up Actions, so that you control multiple devices simultaneously with one button.
  • Replace all your remotes with your iPhone - UnityRemote supports all devices with IR remotes.
  • Learning - Teach UnityRemote to control devices not already in the database.
  • UnityRemote sends infrared signals 360˚. Place it almost anywhere in your room and it will control all of your devices, eliminating all other remote controls.
