Untethered iOS 4.2 Jailbreak Beta Now Available [Update: Video]
December 26, 2010
Have you been willing to jailbreak your last-gen iDevice and suffer through using the currently available tethered jailbreak? Now, there's good news as a new untethered solution has just been made available, as discovered by iSpazio.
Part of an ongoing beta test session of the Dev-Team, a new version of the jailbreaking tool Redsn0w was released today. It's still a beta, but it will allow you to finally get a full-fledged, untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2 on the iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G as well as the iPad.
Of course, there are some downsides, as it's not quite the final solution yet. For starters, you're required to be in possession of your 4.2 beta 3 shsh blobs for it to function. Also, for the time being, it only works on a Mac, on already activated iPhones, and it will disable Bluetooth on your device.
As unfortunate as this is, it's still nice to see some progress and I'm convinced this will serve users much better than a tethered solution in the near future.
As usual, if you try this, it's at your own risk, so be very careful. You can download the new RedSn0w beta application here: (link)
