Now You Can Have Videos In A Flash

December 7, 2010
Maneuvering through a minefield of unavailable Flash video content on the Web used to be commonplace for iOS device owners. However, nearly six months after Apple CEO Steve Jobs called for developers to crown HTML5 king, missing videos on the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad are less the norm. However, they still remain an issue on occasion. Now, (as spotted by iSpazio) there is an application that helps eliminate these missing videos. The iOS Flash Video application is easy to setup and works on all iOS devices. Now, you can watch Flash videos from Dailymotion, Flickr Video, MegaVideo, and Vimeo. Here are the steps:
  • Open the page http://iosflashvideo.fw.hu from mobile Safari on your iOS Device
  • Hit the + button, select Add Bookmark and tap the Save button
  • Open your bookmarks by tapping the bookmark icon and press Edit
  • Choose iOSFlashVideo
  • Delete everything before "javascript:" and hit Done
  • Close bookmarks and you are ready
The application's developers encourage you to download the OPlayer app in the App Store. However, I saw no need to do this. The "fix" works just fine without it. I would suggest following the steps using an external keyboard on the iPad. It is difficult to delete the text before "javascript:" without one. For the iPhone, unfortunately, this isn't possible. Best of luck with that one! Once completed, Flash videos on Dailymotion, Flickr Video, MagaVideo, and Vimeo should be playable. Let us know how you like this technique. Leave your comments below.
