Now Your Apple iDevice Can Take Your Blood Pressure Too

January 4, 2011
After an hour playing your favorite iOS game, you can now test your blood pressure using your Apple iDevice too. The new iHealth BP3 device has been announced at the 2011 Computer Electrics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Created by iHealth Lab Inc., the device is advertised as the “first ever” blood pressure monitoring system for Apple devices. It works with the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad. The $99 device includes a blood pressure cuff and docking station. Using the free iHealth BPM app, users can test, track, graph, and share blood pressure results.

Whether it be for doctors visiting patients far from the office, or a wife wanting to check her sick husband's blood pressure, this device could be huge. It will be interesting to see if it catches on. One concern may be its price. Traditional blood pressure monitoring devices cost a fraction of what iHealth is charging for its device. This could be a deal breaker for some. The iHealth BP3 device is available through the iHealth website, Apple stores and other retail locations. The free iHealth BPM app is available in the App Store.
