What AT&T Is Doing To Make Sure You Don't Go To The Enemy
January 19, 2011
AT&T has had it pretty bad since last week. Now that Verizon will be carrying the iPhone, AT&T is going to have to actually care about their customers and shake things up to ensure that what used to be their only competitive advantage doesn't disappear.
For starters, today we're learning that AT&T has enlisted their buddies over at Best Buy to make sure their staff recommends AT&T for the iPhone. What's the plan? Well, as MG Siegler noticed, they've apparently printed out a blog post from over at BGR, and are handing it out. What a strategy! The thing is, Best Buy isn't selling the Verizon iPhone so they don't really have a choice at this point.
Same thing over at AT&T where customer reps are being given talking points to make sure they tell people how much faster AT&T's network is (35 percent, they claim), as well as how over one third of their customers need to check data while talking. That's not possible with Verizon because of their CDMA network.
I have a feeling these excuses won't cut it for anyone who has experienced lots of dropped calls with AT&T. Any of our readers switching?
