Condé Nast Releases "Best Of Italy" App
January 10, 2011
Italy is one of the most beautiful and traveled nations in the world. Now, a new iPad app by Condé Nast immerses you in the “Best of Italy.”
Priced at $4.99, the app is every bit as good as the best travel books on the market today, but at a lower price.
Using articles originally published in the pages of Condé Nast Traveler magazine, the “Best of Italy” app includes information on each Italian region. These include Venice & The North, Florence & Tuscany, Rome & Central Italy, and Sicily & The South.
Each section includes articles on a region’s must see locations, culture, and dining.
A comprehensive Lodging & Dining section allows searching by price and location. You can even find rooms with a spa.
Three interactive walking tours are also included. Stomp around the ancient city of Pompeii, or explore Rome and nearby Vatican City. Or, take a gondola ride around Venice. Each tour is thorough, insightful, and better than any brochure you might pick up before an actual tour.
Other extras include: amazing photo galleries, opinions from experts on Italy, and etiquette tips.
Finally, the folks at Barilla (of pasta fame) have provided a list of authentic Italian recipes. This is a nice touch, but I’d rather not be reminded each time I enter the app of the company’s sponsorship. This is fine for free apps, but not when you spend $4.99.
Overall, this is a great app.
The “Best of Italy” app is available in the App Store.
