Sephora Offering Free Cases For Installing Their App - Here Is How To Get One

When I got an email offering a free iPhone case from Sephora, I just had to investigate. A free case for either the iPhone 3G/S or the iPhone 4? Entirely free, no strings attached? Could it really be?
In a word, yes - if you have a Sephora in your area. It’s very simple: just download the (free) app and go to the store. Show them that you have the app on your iPhone and they’ll give you a case. That is what the rules say, anyway. In actuality I just asked for it, sort of waving my iPhone in the cashier’s general direction, and she gave it to me without any questions. I wasn’t even sure she saw my phone so I had to check in my bag to make sure she had given me the case for the right model (she had).
If you don’t have a Sephora nearby, it’s a little more complicated and not quite as free. Download the app and tap “Mobile Offers”. There you’ll get a promo code for your free case, but you must purchase something from the site. There are separate codes for the iPhone 3G/S and the iPhone 4 cases.
Surprisingly, the cases are actually very different, and not just in size/shape. The 3G/S version has thick horizontal black and white stripes all the way around the case. There is a tiny Sephora swoosh/”S” on the back. The 4 version has those stripes on the side only - the back is all black with a much more prominent swoosh/”S” on the back, as well as the name, “SEPHORA”. At first this annoyed me, carrying around such an ad for their company, but once I got the case on, I quite liked it. The lip does go around the face a tiny bit, so if you set your phone down on its face (which you wouldn’t, on purpose, of course!) you get some protection. The case is slim, has a nice silky smooth feel to it, and it’s feminine without being overly girly.
Of course, I’m a sucker and bought something while I was in the store, even though I didn’t HAVE to. Which, I suppose, is exactly why Sephora is running this offer.
