Garmin Releases StreetPilot App

January 4, 2011
Garmin International, Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. has released a new navigation app called: StreetPilot. The app was officially announced at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The StreetPilot app includes turn-by-turn directions, the latest maps and real time traffic updates. It also includes many of the same high-end features available on Garmin’s standalone GPS devices including free traffic alerts, lane assist with junction view, and speed limit indicators.

The app also integrates with a driver's iTunes music library so they can access and control their music while on the move. The app, priced at $39.99, is not cheap. But, it is less expensive than buying a standalone GPS device. The StreetPilot app is available today for the iPhone in the App Store.
