GeoRing App Creates Ringtones, But Isn't Perfect

Creating ringtones using music from your iTunes directory is important to many. However, most apps on the market today have a limitation. To create a ringtone, you need to sync it with your computer’s iTunes application before actually being able to use it.
GeoRing, by XVision, offers a different solution. The app does not require syncing. It uses a special “silent” ringtone.
After downloading the app, users need to download the “silent” ringtone at http://j.mp/ringsilent. This file should be added to your Mac’s iTunes Ringtones library. After syncing your iPhone, you need to chose this ringtone located at Settings > Sounds > Ringtone.
After this initial setup, you can assign any song from your music library as your ringtone. You can even decide where in the song your ringtone will start.
As an added bonus, the app assigns a geotag to each incoming call, so you know the origin of each call.
The app is a great way to use your music as a ringtone. The setup is easy and it works as advertised.
However, the app’s geotag support is a work in progress. In four of the five tests I performed, the geotag function did not work. Calls were received but the app didn’t even note that a call took place! Hopefully, an app update will improve this.
Also note that GeoRing must be running in the background. If you reboot your phone or remove GeoRing from the iOS taskbar, you need to restart the app for it to work.
