Movie Stiller Takes Some Of The Shake Out Of Those Nauseating Home Videos
January 20, 2011
You know that sickening feeling you get from trying to endure even a few moments of shaky video shot on your iPhone? Well, Creaceed is looking to help you alleviate that feeling by releasing Movie Stiller, an app that's able to remove a lot of that unwanted shake.
Movie Stiller allows you to import any video of up to 10 minutes currently on your iPhone and stabilize it within a few simple steps. After importing a video, you can adjust the stabilization strength from a low to high value -- where a higher value results in a smoother video -- but, of course, it comes at a cost. The more stabilization you add, the larger the black border is around the video.
To remove the black border, you can change the scale of the video via a slider conveniently located in the middle of the screen. A teal outline shows you just how much scaling you need to do in order to make sure none of the black creeps into your final product. When you are finally happy with what you have created, videos can then be exported to your Camera Roll, so you can share them via a variety of methods.
As you can imagine, videos with a substantial amount of shake can take a bit more time to fix up, but the results turned out to be a lot better than I expected. Check out some of the demonstration videos that Creaceed created at the bottom of this post to get an idea of how much shake you should be able to remove.
Movie Stiller is compatible with iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and the fourth generation iPod touch.
Movie Stiller is available in the App Store for $2.99.
