QuickAdvice: Fight Off Alien Hordes In Home Defender!
Home Defender ($0.99) by Bokan Technologies is an intense, action packed shooter, but its not your typical first person shooter, or role playing game. Before we explain how the game works, lets set the story line. “You play John, a retired captain from Thunder Army. You own a farm on a desert planet, Home Oasis Planet No. OGLF-2150-BLC-390Lb. You live a not wealthy but peaceful life. [sic] But one day, the aliens come.”
Yes, that's right, aliens. It may not seem like a huge deal, considering the abundance of alien shooting games already available. So what sets this one apart from the rest? To kick things off, this game uses point tap shooting, which means you don’t have a cross hair, you just tap where you want to shoot and the shot goes there. Even better, is the “Draw-A-Track” shooting option, where you draw a line on the screen. When you let go, the shots start where you began the line and automatically continue to the point where the line ended. Use this technique, for example, when a horde of aliens are running at you in the shape of a V. It’s a pretty interesting feature, though when the game becomes intense you may forget to use it. Nonetheless, most of the time it is very useful.
The game is broken down into twenty missions, each one becoming significantly more difficult. I play video games on a regular basis and I still found myself having to retry the second and third missions several times before I could complete them.
What really makes this game stand out, is the array of guns and weapons you have to choose from. You have several types of machine guns and rifles, cannons and even unique weapons invented just for the game. You can also upgrade numerous things throughout the game by utilizing your "Weapon Shop." Trust me, in order to get past the first few missions you will find yourself replaying just to save up coins for purchasing necessary upgrades.
Overall, this game has a great story line and a lot more customization than you would expect. Right now, there is a promotional price of $0.99 for the game, so hurry up and grab it before it goes up to $2.99!
