Rumor: iPhone 5 Will Include Dual-Core "A8" Chipset
January 14, 2011
Apple rumors never end, they just shift to different topics. Just as the announcement of the Verizon iPhone (finally) stopped those rumors, attention shifts to the next generation iPhone and iPad.
Today, reports from Digitimes and Apple Daily indicate the iPhone 5 will be released in the second quarter of this year, and include a new “A8 processor.” The iPhone 4 is based on the “Apple A4″ processor, which is a combination of an ARM Cortex-A8 CPU and a GPU.
Slashgear believes the “A8” will be a dual-core version of the existing Apple A4 chipset.
We don’t know much about this purported “A8 processor,” except that it should be great for battery life, and speed.
The iPhone 5 will probably be released at this year's WWDC in June, as is usually the case for Apple. We will keep you updated.
