Rumor: Verizon iPhone Will Give And Take Away On Day One

January 10, 2011
Besides being a new carrier for the iPhone, rumor has it that Verizon will make an unlimited data plan available. This news comes from All Things Digital:
Sources close to Verizon tell me the carrier will offer the iPhone with an unlimited data plan (presumably the same $30 unlimited plan they offer for other smartphones) — though they wouldn’t say for how long. That should distinguish it a bit more from the iPhone on AT&T which requires a capped plan for data service.
However, Verizon customers shouldn't jump for joy just yet. Unlike AT&T’s UMTS network, Verizon’s CMDA network does not permit the use of data and voice at the same time. Therefore, Verizon iPhone users will not be able to surf the Web or check e-mail while on a call. Meanwhile, 9 To 5 Mac is reporting that Apple will eliminate restocking fees beginning January 11. Apple has been charging a 10 percent restocking fee on all purchases within its standard 14 day return period. This date just happens to be the day Verizon is expected to announce its iPhone at a special event. Is this the real deal? Will Verizon finally get the iPhone this week? Leave your comments below.
