Mac Angry Birds: Don't Want To Start Over? Import Your Progress From iOS
January 6, 2011
Apple unveiled the Mac App Store at an event cleverly called Back To The Mac. The idea was that Apple would take advantage of what it learned with iOS, and bring it back to the Macintosh. Unsurprisingly, many software developers followed the same path in making their first Mac App Store apps; they took a lot from iOS.
Some Mac apps, like Angry Birds, are virtually the same as their iOS counterparts. In fact, you can even exchange your saved games between the two platforms. Thanks to a little hack (which consists of transfering some files from your iOS copy of Angry Birds to your Mac), you can retrieve your progress in the game from your mobile device, so you don't have to do all the levels again.
It's fairly simple to do, you just need to copy the "highscores.lua" file from the document folder of your iOS Angry Birds, and then use it to replace the one you have on your Mac at "youruserfolder/Library/Application Support/Rovio/Angry Birds." The folks who discovered this over at Macworld have a detailed how-to if you want to try it out.
Of course, in a way you'd be ruining the game for yourself, so don't blame us if this spoils all the fun.
