ZumoCast Vanishes - Motorola To Blame

January 12, 2011
ZumoCast has disappeared from the App Store. The app allows users to stream audio and video from their computer to their iOS devices. ZumoCast has been covered here on AppAdvice several times: The app is not gone for good, and should return soon. The reason behind the disappearance: Motorola.

Macworld got in touch with David Zhao, CEO of Zecter, the developer of ZumoCast, to get more information. Motorola recently acquired Zecter and is requiring the company to update the application to meet unspecified guidelines. Zhao says it should only take one or two months to get the software updated, and available once again. Zhao assured Macworld that he and his company are huge fans of iOS and the Mac; they plan to support Apple products in the future. The app may also make its way onto the Android platform now that Motorola owns it. Users who have already downloaded the app can continue to use it without interruption. It is very important that users have a backup of the iOS app and server software as there is currently no way to download them again. What changes to the app do you think Motorola is requiring? Let us know in the comments below!
