Ahead Of Its Debut, New Details About The Daily Emerge
February 1, 2011
After months of rumors and delays, Rupert Murdoch’s highly anticipated iPad news app, The Daily, will have its unveiling tomorrow at a press event at New York’s famed Guggenheim Museum.
Murdoch himself will make the announcement along with Apple’s VP of Internet Services, Eddy Cue.
While much about The Daily remains a secret, some details have emerged. For one, the app will be available for $.99/week using Apple’s new subscription system. This will allow users to receive fresh content every morning through an iTunes’ push feature.
For the first two weeks, The Daily will be available for free.
Second, the app will include six sections, each will be updated twice a day. While the sections haven’t been announced, it is safe to surmise these will include: general news, sports and business news, among others.
Third, stories will be come in two varieties.
According to All Things Digital, articles will look like stories you'd see anywhere else, or they may be like iPhone apps. The latter will feature interactive graphics, videos or photos which you can swipe, pinch and zoom. There will also be an audio feature so stories can be read aloud to you. Plus, there's a crossword puzzle, and sudoku.
Expect The Daily to become available in the App Store tomorrow.
