Google Now Lets Users Narrow Searches To Establishments Open Right Now
February 28, 2011
Google has always made finding good restaurants nearby as easy as visiting its website either online or through an iDevice. However, when the munchies come late at night, those listings mean nothing if the establishment is closed for the day. Thankfully, Google now has that covered too. The company recently added a new feature, which lets users narrow search listings to only those places open right now.
The “Show only businesses open now” filter appears above the actual search results. When used, the corresponding search results also include the hours each business is open.
This feature works for any local business, including coffee bars, shopping locations, and more.
In its present form, the service is promising, but not fully effective. It relies on each business making sure their listings include hours of operation information. For the time being, it appears this isn’t the case for many.
Still, Google should be praised for its “open now” feature, which makes finding a good place to eat or shop easier than ever.
