Help Jimmy Become An Actor With Ready Action!
Ready Action! ($1.99) by HOTDOG Studio INC. is a “platformer” game, where the player must jump and attack their way through scenes in 30 seconds. The storyline is simple; you are a young boy named Jimmy, who is working for a poor film company trying to become famous. Since the film company is poor, the player has exactly 30 seconds of film to complete the level. There are currently two themes, and 50 levels. The game uses simple left and right controls with an attack and jump button.
The levels begin with some pretty basic obstacles, and gradually become harder. Something about it feels very similar to the classic Super Mario games, though with a twist. The characters are clearly not Mario and Luigi, nor are they swallowing 1-up mushrooms, however the running and jumping feels the same.
Throughout the levels you collect coins, though if your character gets injured, all the coins are dropped. Once all the coins are dropped, you have a few seconds to gather them up again. This idea seems to come straight out of the classic game Sonic. I usually don’t like games stealing concepts from other games. Ready Action has a lot to offer that is original, but maybe in a future update we will see it move away from other games' concepts.
I found only having 30 seconds really puts a damper on most levels. The storyline fits that feature, but I feel that taking your time through the levels would make it more enjoyable. However, only having 30 seconds does make it more challenging.
Overall, Ready Action is a great platform game, and offers many exciting levels. You are sure to enjoy jumping and attacking your way past enemies for hours. For $1.99 it is great game to add to your iPhone.
