Plants vs. Zombies Comes To Mac App Store With A Fatal Flaw
February 18, 2011
Horrible creatures have invaded the Mac. While they aren’t of the virus variety, they will still wreck havoc on your computer. The popular iOS game, Plants vs. Zombies is now available in the Mac App Store.
Created by PopCap Games, Inc., Plants vs. Zombies for Mac offers the same thrills as the games created for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad.
For those unaware of the game, it pits your zombie-zapping plants against the home-invading zombies. Using peashooters, wall-nuts, cherry bombs and more, you need to slow down, confuse, or weaken the creatures before they reach the front door.
Be warned: the game is addictive and extremely time consuming, and I mean that in a good way.
Unfortunately, the Mac game has a major flaw, which has nothing to do with the actual game play. This flaw should cause any potential buyer to pause.
It looks like the game’s creators were lazy and simply duplicated the iPad game for the Mac. The end result is a lot of screen real estate not being used, with users being forced to play the game on a small screen.
Choosing full screen mode makes it worse; the game looks fuzzy.
Priced at $9.99, Plants vs. Zombies for Mac is going to be a tough sell because of the screen issue. Hopefully, PopCap Games will change this soon, since the game itself is amazing. Until then, you’ve been warned.
