Are you the next Spielberg? Do you dream of having the next big Hollywood movie? Or are you just someone that likes to write screenplays for fun, and not really for the money? Whichever you may be, Screenwriting is here to help you out.
Upon opening the app, the first thing that should be noticed is the nice, clean interface. It opens with a simple menu, which is your home base for all your screenwriting magic.
You have two main options, as well as an included screenplay sample from the developers. You can either Add Project or Import Script. The import option will give you a URL to go to on your computer web browser, where you can upload a .fdx file. After it's uploaded, it should appear on the app.
Adding a project will take you to a screen to enter details for your Cover Page. This information includes: title of film, name, mailing address, telephone number, email, and a Writer's Guild registration number, if any. Once that's filled out, you're on your way!
The screen will contain four tabs at the top: Scenes, Story, Character List, and Notes.
Scenes will allow you to enter all your different scenes and write what you need for each. As you add scenes, they will end up numbered in a separate pane. While editing the script, there will be more buttons that appear at the top that will help you when writing: Character (insert from the Character List), Parentheticals, Dialog, Transition, and Action. Pressing any of these will allow you to type what you need and then it will be placed in the proper place on the script. This is great if you can't remember how something is supposed to be properly structured.
The Story tab will display your script as a whole, so you can read it and see how it is flowing along. The Character List allows you to enter in the names of characters in your script and even put who the actor would be to play them, along with any notes about your character. Pictures can also be attached to a character, so this is a great way to visualize. The last tab is Notes, which allows the user to input any additional notes they need to make note of for their script, but without letting the note get in the way of the script itself.
Once you complete your screenplay or just want to make a backup of it, you can export it as a HTML-body email or as a Final Draft document attachment.
