The Second Generation iPad Will Be Announced March 2 [Updated]

With stories indicating supplies of the original iPad are dropping worldwide, we now know the reason: Apple is expected to officially announce the iPad 2 on
March 2, 2011.
All Things Digital was the first to break the news.
According to them, the event will take place in San Francisco, California, most likely at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. While it is not clear when Apple will be sending out invitations to the event, because of the proximity of the date, this should happen soon.
Naturally, the next question is: Will Steve Jobs show up at the event? The Apple CEO is currently on medical leave.
The iPad 2 is expected to be thinner than its predecessor and include an improved display. It will run on both GSM and CDMA-based networks.
Update: The Yerba Buena Center's online calendar shows no PUBLIC events scheduled for March 2.
