The insatiable shark is back for more in the third installment of the Hungry Shark series. A brand new underwater world is introduced for part three with new bosses, 25 new types of enemies, and ten more lost treasures from the world above. You tilt your iOs device to maneuver the shark from the shallow water to deep sea caverns constantly eating things smaller than you to survive.
Now if you've played the first two parts you know what to expect for part three. If you've never played the Hungry Shark series it's an endless adventure game where you're constantly exploring the vast world for what's next. You never know what's around the next bend, and there are multiple forks in the path.
Along your journey you will encounter all types of sea creatures, and there is one main path that leads you to the few bosses. Part 3 includes an evil genius' secret volcano lair, oil rigs, and the mythical Kempy Bass. There are now enemy sharks to battle with and more dangerous sea creatures, as well as damaging toxin, oil spills, and underground volcanoes.
The game is survival based so the entire time you need to be conscious of your health meter which can be replenished by eating. Therefore, you always need to pile things in the shark's mouth so you can't just go swimming around looking around, you need to eat too. When you finally do make it to a boss it's a nice exciting challenge, and along the way you can try to find the ten hidden treasures.
One negative is that after making it to a boss, and then losing you need to restart all the way at the beginning going through the same area all over again. Not only that, but part three seems easier than the other two as there are more edible fish about all the time. Once you do make it through the bosses, and find everything, you don't really want to play the game again.
Game Center is included to potentially help with replayability, but after playing part one and two, variability is going to be hard to come by. Hungry Shark Part 3 features retina quality graphics, and the entire thing is well designed with a pseudo 3D look despite being a 2D game.
Hungry Shark Part 3 ($0.99, iPhone) is more of the same so if you liked either of the other two you'll be right at home. If you've never played it, part two (which includes part 1) is currently free for the launch of part three. Hungry Shark Part 3 is worth considering depending on your experience with the first two, and don't expect too much difference. Also the entire Hungry Shark Trilogy is in HD on the iPad for $2.99.
