Turn Yourself Into A Sumo Wrestler In Our Review Of SumoBooth

February 12, 2011
There are all kinds of photo booth apps to transform your pictures into practically anything, but there's nothing quite like being Sumo-fied. SumoBooth is a new photo transformation app that takes your pictures, throws on a wig, and lets you feed it some rice to pack on the pounds. In no time you'll be looking like a massive Sumo wrestler, and that's not all, as this is one of the few photo booth apps that is actually interactive. First off after transformation your picture gains motion, and actually moves around, blinks, and mimics breathing. Then it repeats whatever you say, and the more Sumo like you've made the picture the deeper the voice will be. You can also interact with the moving photo by tapping the screen which acts as a slap to the face, and the picture will react accurately. The moving image is very authentic, and it's quite amazing seeing your picture in motion. Then you get the sumo size, and it acts as a voice mimicker, and you can slap it around. Now when the picture puts on weight it just blows up the image, and doesn't look anywhere close to realistic. It is nice that you can determine your weight gain based in how many bowls of rice you give. Once you're happy with the Sumo version of your photo you have all kinds of sharing options at your disposal. You can save, e-mail, and upload images to the main social networks.

That's not all, as you can take video of your moving sumo image, and then share it with the same methods above. You can make a clip of feeding, slapping, and voice recording and then show it to everyone you know. The app is great for photos of yourself, friends, and family and the fun stops only when you run out of fresh people. The voice recognition doesn't always work so it can miss the first word you say, and it doesn't record for very long. You can restart a session of any previously transformed photos, so you don’t have to redo the image. Also the app almost always auto aligns the eyes and face of your image very well, but the image you use needs to be front facing, as any tilt to the side will mess up the sumo transformation. The app does get stale after just a couple uses, but each new person you introduce it to will laugh and be amazed. Actually seeing the pictures in motion is such a change of pace from most photo booth apps, and it's a very well made engine. Being able to interact with the images as well as manipulating them makes it a nice change of pace. SumoBooth is instantly comparable to Fat Booth, but while the fattening is not as realistic, the interaction, voice mimic, and motion makes it more enjoyable. SumoBooth is worth 99 pennies as it can create that many laughs.
