Review: Unwanted Guest - Moving Tales Is Back

Moving Tales is at it again with The Unwanted Guest. It’s a story that comes to life with animated images throughout. The words fly on to the page, and the app reads the story aloud. It even features background music and sound effects to really immerse you in the story. The Unwanted Guest is the second in a series of “Classic World Tales” that has come to iOS.
You can swipe to turn the page or have the app auto-turn the page for you. You can even record your own voice reading the story. The narrative itself is only 25 pages, but it is very compelling, and every page keeps you constantly engaged with the story so that you will not want to put it down.
Of course, the story is relatively short, so the app doesn’t have the longest shelf life, but the ability to record your own voice does help a a bit. Upon secondary readings, the app features secondary animations which also encourage multiple readings.
The app is beautifully designed with extraordinary images. Every single page is a work of art, and the images move around to perfectly embody the text on the page. The story comes to life right before your eyes and looks amazing on the iPad.
Unwanted Guest is really a new way to enjoy stories, and you’re left wanting more when the story concludes. Obviously, it would be nice for the story to be longer or to perhaps have multiple stories in the app. Another potential improvement might be to have animations that are slightly more complex, as some graphics are fairly void of any real movement.
Unwanted Guest ($4.99 iPad / iPhone) is a great iOS app. If you enjoy animation and short stories, it offers a ton of value for the price.
