iOS Goes To The Super Bowl - Check Out The Best Commercials

February 7, 2011
The Super Bowl, for those of you not familiar with this landmark of American culture, is all about the ads. Major companies spend big bucks to get featured on what is one of the most massively watched TV sport events of the year. The result is usually quite impressive, and even those not particularly interested in the game usually attend to see the what big brands are up to. Technology companies usually take on a large share of the spots, and this year more than ever, our dear iDevices had a central role. For those of you who missed these, or want to see the spots again, here they are:

Motorola

While not directly featuring the iPad, Motorola's Android tablet spot is clearly aimed at Apple with its references to Apple's own 1984 Super Bowl commercial. Needless to say, it didn't live up to the hype.

The Daily

News Corp's new tablet magazine also got a piece of the Super Bowl hype last night, with quite a nice looking ad. The Daily, which is available for free on the iPad at the moment needs to pass 1 million subscribers to become profitable, so get ready to see a lot more of it.

The Verizon iPhone

Verizon also jumped on the Super Bowl boat to promote the arrival of the iPhone on its network. It's not a new ad, as it's being aired since  a few days already. Yet, you'll all appreciate the gentle nab it takes at AT&T.

Angry Birds & Rio

Last, but not least; Angry Birds was, as announced, featured in the Rio movie trailer. You can spot the secret details to unlock the special Super Bowl level around the 00:27 mark, or just check our post to see how to unlock it yourself.
