No Surprise: Consumer Reports Won't Recommend The Verizon iPhone

February 28, 2011
In news that should surprise no one, Consumer Reports has criticized the Verizon iPhone 4 and won’t include it on its list of recommended smart phones. This follows a similar opinion issued by the non-profit organization in July 2010 about the AT&T iPhone 4. In both cases, the handset is criticized for apparent antenna problems, which seem to go away when the device is placed in a case. The entire issue, which flared up last summer, was unofficially known as “Antenna-gate.” This led Apple to give away free cases (for a limited time) to those who initially purchased the AT&T iPhone. The organization’s initial criticism hasn’t stopped millions of customers from purchasing the AT&T iPhone 4. Its latest rant probably won’t do much to stop iPhone 4 sales through Verizon. At this point the report seems irrelevant. After all, a “solution” to the antenna issue was discovered nearly nine months ago. Can you say petty?
