Verizon iPhone Jailbroken Before Launch
February 7, 2011
The jailbreak community has gotten really fast over the years. It's not even much of a surprise anymore to hear about new devices getting freed in less than a day after release. This time around however, they're taking it even further.
Thanks to a few Verizon iPhones who made it to their owners before the official launch date (scheduled for the 10th), it has reportedly already been confirmed that Apple's new handset is vulnerable to greenp0ison, the latest iOS jailbreak solution. The folks over at BlogsDNA have even released a couple screenshots to confirm the rumor which has been making rounds since earlier today. They look legit, and we've heard many reports about this so I believe we can assume the information is real at this point.
This is great news, as it means that the Verizon iPhone is jailbreakable out of the box, and new iPhone owners will be able to enjoy everything Cydia has to offer as soon as they receive their handset. Don't count on an unlock however, as trying to mess with this CDMA baseband is apparently way more complicated, not to mention a crime.
