Apple Delays iPad 2 Launch In Japan, Encourages Donations To Victims

Apple has delayed the launch of the iPad in Japan, because of last week’s earthquake and tsunami, according to Reuters. The second-generation tablet was supposed to debut in Japan on March 25.
According to Apple spokesman, Natalie Kerris:
"We are delaying the launch of the iPad 2 in Japan while the country and our teams focus on recovering from the recent disaster."Kerris said the company's decision to delay sales in Japan had nothing to do with any component supply shortages, although that possibility exists later in the year. She also didn't announce a rescheduled launch date. According to Reuters, Apple current quarter shouldn't be impacted by the crisis in Japan. However, its June quarter could be affected by supply shortages, particularly for components like flash memory. In Apple’s December quarter, five percent of its revenue came from Japan, which was a rise of 83 percent or $1.4 billion. Apple is asking its iTunes customers to help those affected by the disaster by giving to the American Red Cross. For more information on donating, click here.
