It Chirps; Pay-As-You-Go Verizon iPhones Spotted In The Wild

Pay-as-you-go smart phone enthusiasts can now purchase a Verizon iPhone and ditch “America’s Largest Network” at the same time. According to Engadget, some Cricket Wireless dealers will happily flash any CDMA iPhone for use on their network. Cricket, with over five million customers in 35 states and the District of Columbia, is known for its PAYGo service. According to the Cricket website, a prepayment of just $3 per day delivers unlimited voice calls, messaging, and mobile web. Converting a Verizon iPhone isn’t for everyone. For one, not all Cricket Wireless dealers will flash your phone, so finding one that does could provide a challenge. Second, it requires a jailbreak, and the installation of third party MMS software.
