Fight Night Champion Hits The App Store
March 1, 2011
EA's heavy-hitting boxing sim, Fight Night Champion, is now available in the App Store. It's the second iOS title from EA this year that has been simultaneously released alongside its console counterparts, proving once again how serious the company is taking mobile gaming.
Fight Night Champion allows you to enter the ring as one of 20 past and current champions like Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, Manny Pacquiao, and Roy Jones Jr. You are able to control your boxer via a variety of methods including tilt to move, touch to block and jab, and on-screen gestures to land crushing hooks.
The Fight Night series is known for its stellar graphics, and this iOS version is really no different. It features beautifully rendered character models highlighted by dynamic lighting, allowing you to see just how each blow affects your fighter. The game also includes full audio commentary from Joe Tessitore to further add to the realism.
Fight Night Champion includes a quick play mode so you can get right into the action, and a legacy mode that allows you to work your way through the ranks all of the way to the title bout. You will have to take advantage of every opportunity you get in legacy mode, however, as your boxer will eventually need to retire. The game also includes local multiplayer via Wi-Fi, and a variety of control and game customization options.
It's worth noting that you will need at least a third generation iPhone or iPod touch to take full advantage of everything Fight Night Champion has to offer. First generation devices are not supported in any capacity.
Fight Night Champion is now available in the App Store for $4.99. Check back soon for our full review of EA's latest offering.
