Gameloft's N.O.V.A. 3 Might Use Unreal Engine 3 Technology

March 30, 2011
Don’t look now, but N.O.V.A. 3 might utilize Epic Games's Unreal Engine 3, according to PocketGamer. If confirmed, this would be the first of Gameloft's four upcoming games that will use the incredible technology. Earlier this month, Paris-based Gameloft announced a licensing agreement with Epic Games that enables them to incorporate the Unreal Engine 3 in four new games. The game engine includes advanced technologies such as HDRR, per-pixel lights, and dynamic shadows. Under the agreement, Gameloft plans to release the games on multiple mobile and downloadable platforms, including iOS, Android, PlayStation Network and set-top boxes. According to PocketGamer, it’s not surprising that a third N.O.V.A. game is in the works. However, switching to Unreal Engine 4 is an interesting move. They state:
N.O.V.A. 2 looked awfully good last December, so who knows what it'll look like this time around.
So far, Gameloft has remained tight-lipped and hasn’t confirmed or denied N.O.V.A. 3 will be coming or that it will use Unreal Engine 3. It has only confirmed four unnamed games will be released in the next two years, which use the technology.
