GDC 11: Big News For Little Things

There is no hidden object game quite like Little Things (iPad, $2.99), where the goal is to scour large images composed of tons of little images. Your goal is to find particular "little things" among the collage, and there are multiple objectives from level to level. During GDC, we met with the developer of Little Things, Matthew Hall, and he told us about an upcoming update which will include Game Center support for online leader boards and achievements.
At the time of our meeting, the update had already been sent to Apple for review, but now, it has been officially released in the App Store. The leader board is for total objects found, and there are 10 achievements to earn. The game also works with fast app switching so you can pick up mid search after you leave the app.
That wasn't the only Little Things news though. Little Things 2 (tentative title) is in the works, and, unlike the original, will not only come to iPad, but iPhone/iPod Touch as well. The logistics for the smaller screen are still in the works, but every effort will be put in to making it work very well.
Little Things 2 is expected around November of this year, so this is definitely one to keep on our long range radar. The game will feature twice the number of levels as the original, as well as more puzzle stages in between all the searching. There is one other big surprise related to the game that couldn't be revealed yet, but the developer is really excited about it.
Little Things is a great iPad game, and a sequel with more features will keep my search senses tingling.
