iOS Apps Gone Free: QBeez, Geared 2, AppStart, And More

Today's AGF list includes an iPhone-spinning matching game, a geared up physics-based puzzle game, AppAdvice's own startup guide for iPad and iPad 2, and much more.

iPhone:

QBeez ($.99 -> Free, 10.3 MB): Flip, turn, and shake your iPhone or iPod touch to match two or more of the same colored QBeez. The goal of the game is to clear all of them before time expires. It features two modes, 15 characters, and OpenFeint integration.

Pinball Hockey! ($.99 -> Free, 8 MB): This game is a result of what you get when you combine pinball and hockey. Control your paddles by tapping each side of the screen to launch the ball into your opponent's goal. The game features three tables, two scoring modes, same-device multiplayer, and OpenFeint integration.

Pinball Hockey! is available for free today only (03/12). It has a 3.5-star rating with a total of 6 ratings.

Line Runner ($.99 -> Free, 8.4 MB): Jump and roll your way through 10 different tracks in order to achieve the greatest distance and, as a result, the highest score. The game features doodle graphics, simple tap controls, and OpenFeint integration.

Line Runner is available for free through the weekend. It has a 4-star rating with a total of 11 ratings.

Brutal Fantasy - The Orcs of Undermountain ($1.99 -> Free, 84.6 MB): Control the last “Knight of the Blue Guard” as he tries to protect his land from the orc uprising in this side-scrolling beat ‘em up. The game features tons of unique weapons that can be purchased from the in-game store, the ability to upgrade your character stats, 20 levels, seven spells, and Game Center integration.

Brutal Fantasy - The Orcs of Undermountain is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 5 ratings.

Crazy Car ($.99 -> Free, 11.6 MB): Tap on the traffic lights to get a specific number of vehicles safely through the intersections. The game includes 100 levels, all kinds of different vehicles, and three difficulty levels.

4x4 Gyroscope Clinometer ($.99 -> Free, 489.2 KB): A clinometer that can be mounted in your vehicle to display your pitch and roll. It utilizes the built-in gyroscope to provide precise results.

Boxed In 3 ($.99 -> Free, 9.8 MB): A logic-based puzzle game where you must push boxes around the 50 levels in order to safely reach the exit, but you must be careful because you can get boxed in. The game features two different control methods, stat tracking, and the ability to undo your previous move.

Boxed In 2 ($.99 -> Free, 3.6 MB): Just like the version above, but with 50 different levels.

Geared 2! ($.99 -> Free, 15.8 MB): The sequel to the hit physics-based puzzle game. Place a wide variety of gears in the playing field in order to eventually power the blue gears. The game features 60 official levels and over 440 user-generated ones. It also includes a level editor so you can create your own.

Geared 2! is available for free today only (03/12). It has a 3.5-star rating with a total of 2678 ratings.

My first puzzles: Toys ($1.99 -> Free, 77.7 MB): Designed for young children, this educational game allows your child to solve 12 different puzzles by dragging pieces into their appropriate spots. It features Retina graphics and the ability to shake to reset puzzles.

Lifelike Craig HD - Craigslist for iPad ($1.99 -> Free, 4.8 MB): This convenient app simply makes searching and posting to Craigslist much more manageable on your iPad. It features the ability to save searches, filters, favorites, a built-in map, and much more.

Jiggle Balls HD ($1.99 -> Free, 4.4 MB): This straight forward entertainment app allows you to interact with balls in a variety of ways. Just select your ball type, size, weight, bounciness, and stickiness, and then play around with them however you wish.

AppStart for iPad ($.99 -> Free, 12.6 MB): AppAdvice's own startup guide for iPad and iPad 2. It will teach you how to take full advantage of your brand new tablet by walking you through all of its features and recommending only the best apps. It was recently updated to include iOS 4.3 tips and tricks, and breakdowns on how to get the most out of iMovie, Garageband, FaceTime, Photo Booth, and the iPad's cameras.

AppStart for iPad is available for free through the weekend. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 199 ratings. Developers: If you are a developer who would like to get your app included in our “Apps Gone Free” daily lists, here’s our basic set of rules:
  • It must have at least a three-star average rating at the time it goes free.
  • The app must not have been free numerous times (3+) over the last six months.
  • The free version of your app must not include ads.
