What Will The iPad 2 Cost Where You Live?
March 24, 2011
Hours before the international launch of the iPad 2, we now have a better idea what the iDevice will cost in different countries across the globe. Italian blog Setteb.it has published a chart comparing pricing between the U.S. and 18 of the 25 countries involved in tomorrow’s iPad 2 launch.
The chart, which we have published here, is expressed in local currency (if any) with all currencies converted into the Euro for easy comparison. In addition, Setteb.it accounted for local taxes. For the U.S., for example, they’ve included a 9.2 percent sales tax, which may be higher or lower depending on the state a buyer resides.
Apple is often criticized for the prices it charges for its products internationally, and certainly the iPad 2 will be no exception. U.S. customers continue to pay less than customers in other countries, rightly or wrongly.
As a comparison, we've looked at the price differences for the 32GB Wi-Fi iPad 2 model, which sells for €468 in the U.S.
This same model goes for €491 in Australia, €503 in Canada, and €549 in the U.K.
Norway leads all others with the 32 Wi-Fi model selling for €595.
It will be interesting to see how buyers react to the differences in price. Most likely, they won’t care and purchase the iDevice anyway.
