Klimt Calendar HD: Can Art Make You More Productive?
Klimt Calendar HD ($0.99) by Byungil Park ambitiously tries to blend the fine arts and productivity.
Regrettably the answer to the title question: "Can Art Make You More Productive," is no. At least as far as Klimt Calendar HD is concerned.
But, what Byungil Park does do is turn a would-be productivity app into a pleasing digital coffee table book.
The Klimt Calendar, available for iPhone and iPad separately, comes up short in the productivity department.
Gustav Klimt once said, “All art is erotic.” If he was referring to his own symbolistic style it’s certainly true more often than not.
But, his works are also those of a masterful artist whose representations of the female form, nature, and the subconscious are brought together beautifully in the Klimt Calendar apps.
This app is very peaceful.
But, the Klimt Calendar HD suffers from an identity crisis.
If the developers want to sell a productivity app they need to add features that make it productive.
It would be great if you could enter events directly, or better yet, if it synced to your calendar app and displayed the day’s events unobtrusively.
They ought to integrate the clock into the productivity scheme by using the preexisting soundtrack. It could serve as a stress-light notification system.
And, that would make a complete and coherent package.
Byungil Park could then market this app as a whole new approach to time management.
As it stands, the app is too nebulous to properly classify.
The Klimt Calendar HD is a nice onetime experience.
But, after you go through the 50 images a few times, this app is likely to be relegated to your “oh yeah, I forgot I had this” folder.
