This is a very simple app -- just open it up and choose a city. You get a map from the late 1800s, near the turn of the century. Pinch to zoom in closer; the high-resolution maps are quite detailed. In fact, the maps are up to 400 megapixels (24,000 x 17,000 pixels). The year is in the top right corner. When you tap “Info”, you simply get the name of the city and the year the map was drawn. This info is already on the map, so there’s really no point in tapping.
Of course you can find plenty of maps with a simple internet search, but the level of detail, high resolution, and “zoomability” of the maps in this app can’t so easily be found elsewhere.
If you’re into 19th century US city maps, this is an app you’ll probably want to check out. As of this writing, the app is on sale for $.99 - much more reasonable for what this app offers than the full regular price of $3.99.
