Quickly Snap To Dropbox With QuickShot - Plus A Chance To Win A Copy With A Comment!
QuickShot with Dropbox ($0.99) by GUI Cocoa, LLC. is a simple camera app that automatically sends your photos to the cloud with Dropbox.
Have you ever wanted a way to get your photos on your iPhone easily uploaded to the cloud as you take them? Because the old method of getting your photos onto your computer by plugging up your iPhone has been an inconvenience at times - you'd need your computer and a cable. Not anymore! Meet QuickShot.
QuickShot implies in its name that you can quickly take pictures, but there's a great feature that it has over the default Camera.app: your photos will be immediately uploaded into your Dropbox as you snap.
The interface is pretty simple - there are three buttons along the bottom: Settings, Capture, and Photo Library.
To get your fast snaps, just tap on the middle button - Capture. It works just like the default camera app, but once you take it, you'll see a status bar near the top of the screen that will inform you the app is uploading. Multitasking is fully supported, so your photos will even upload when the app is closed.
Additionally, you can get access to all your device's camera features, like the flash, tap-to-focus, and front-facing camera of the iPhone 4. These buttons are found in their normal spots. It feels very much like Apple's own Camera app.
Worried about losing geotagging and other metadata? QuickShot preserves all of this information about your shot, though Location Services will need to be on for geotagging, as well as access to the Photo Library.
The Photo Library button will take you to all your photos, where you can select multiple ones to upload at once. Very nifty.
The Settings will allow you to change the name of your folder, unlink/link your Dropbox account, choose your photo quality, confirm uploads, and save a copy to the Camera Roll.
QuickShot is a nice little app to have if you would prefer to have your photos uploaded instantly to the cloud. The only con of QuickShot is that it does not do video right now, but I hope the developers address this in a future update.
If you need video capabilities, then check out DropPhox. But I hope that QuickShot can add video support, because I am liking the interface more than DropPhox.
GIVEAWAY: I have 4 copies of QuickShot to give away. If you'd like to give the app a try, leave a comment on why you need it. I'll pick randomly from the best responses to receive a copy. Leave your comment by Sunday, March 6, 2011 by 6 PM.
