Actual Apple TV Could Arrive Later This Year Report

April 14, 2011
Apple could join the $100 billion LCD TV market by releasing its own internet-based HD television by the end of the year, according to news first reported by Apple Insider. According to analyst Brian White with Ticonderoga Securities, as quoted by Apple Insider:
"Our research suggests this Smart TV would go well beyond the miniature $99 second-generation Apple TV that the company released last fall and provide a full-blown TV product for consumers.”
He also suggested recent “data points” suggest Apple is “moving down this path at a faster pace than the market expected.” If indeed Apple was about to spring an actual Apple TV onto the market, it could instantly be paired with the company’s profitable iTunes application. This would give consumers access to movies, television shows, and of course, apps. However, whether these options alone would be enough to eliminate the need for cable or satellite service remains to be seen. What do you think? Would you buy an actual Apple TV?
