Amnesty International Launches New iPhone App

April 13, 2011
Amnesty International released its AiCandle app today for the iPhone/iPod touch. The app enables users to access breaking news on human rights and to support Amnesty International’s latest campaigns. AiCandle, which is free in the App Store, is a brilliant marketing tool for the organization behind it, and serves two purposes. First, it gives users quick access to articles published on the organization’s website. Second, it shows you where human rights are being violated and asks that you take “action” by signing online petitions or emails.  In order to do so, you are required to establish a free Amnesty International user account, which take about two minutes to complete. According to Owen Pringle, Director of Digital Communications at Amnesty International:
"The AiCandle is part our suite of digital tools that empower people to take immediate action for human rights. The solidarity of our 3 million supporters across the world continues to make a positive difference to the lives of so many individuals. The AiCandle offers another way in which people can express that solidarity."
Every item within the AiCandle app is easily shared with others either through email or Facebook. Twitter integration and multimedia are promised soon. Check out this video:
