Bloomsberg Businessweek+ Arrives On iPad Along With Terrific Subscription Offer

April 11, 2011
Bloomberg Businessweek has agreed to the terms of Apple’s iTunes subscription service and has released an iPad app. The publication, which is distributed weekly, comes with an attractive subscription fee and is free to current print subscribers. The Bloomberg Businessweek+ app is $2.99 for a four-issue digital subscription, which renews monthly, or just over $.74 per issue. This compares to $.77 per issue for the existing 26-week introductory print subscription. Unlike publications such as WIRED Magazine, which attempt to make its iPad issues slightly different than its monthly print magazine, Bloomberg Businessweek+ is standard fare. It does not include bells and whistles, but rather is a straightforward reprint of the original. However, its attractive subscription price shouldn't be overlooked and could make it popular on the iPad. Features include:
  • Exclusive Video featuring Bloomberg Businessweek's editor and his creative team as they share the story behind each week's groundbreaking cover
  • Audio from Tom Keene & Charlie Rose to enhance their weekly print columns
  • Live market info and the latest news on companies mentioned in articles
  • Search across multiple issues by Company or Keyword
  • Save & Access articles across issues to create your own personal library
  • Share your favorite stories via e-mail, Twitter, and Facebook
Although some magazine subscribers have expressed dissatisfaction with Apple's two-month-old subscription plan, which gives it 30 percent of all sales, some are jumping aboard. In addition to Bloomsberg Businessweek+, Popular Science, and Elle US, among others, have recently joined the program. The free Bloomberg Businessweek+ app is available in the App Store. Subscriptions are available as in-app purchases and are charged to your iTunes account.
