Future iPhone Buyers Likely To Select Verizon Over AT&T - Report
April 5, 2011
A new ChangeWave survey indicates Verizon iPhone owners are happier with their handheld service and received fewer dropped calls than AT&T users. Plus, new iPhone customers will mostly likely select Verizon over AT&T. The poll collected data from 4,068 consumers from the Verizon iPhone debut in early February through March 28.
Satisfaction-wise, both Verizon and AT&T score well. A significant 82 percent of Verizon iPhone customers and 80 percent of those with AT&T rate their service as “very satisfied.”
However, Verizon scored much better than AT&T in terms of the percentage of dropped calls. Company-wide just 1.4 percent of Verizon customers report having a dropped called in the past 90 days. This compares to 4.6 percent for AT&T.
Comparing users with iPhones, Verizon customers report dropped calls of 1.8 percent versus 4.8 percent for AT&T customers.
T-Mobile (2.3 percent) and Sprint/Nextel (2.7 percent) also lead AT&T.
Still, AT&T’s numbers have been improving. That same number stood at 6 percent in September 2010 and 4.7 percent in December 2010.
Finally, the study suggests future iPhone buyers will select Verizon as their service provider, by a margin of 46 percent to 27 percent.
